Abstract: A vent for venting a building enclosure having a perimeter flange having a nailing means being made of a material with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, such as for example sheet aluminum. The vent further includes a grill structure and a cap. The cap is made from dent resistant plastic to facilitate mass production and low return rates. In a preferred form of the invention the grill structure is also plastic and is molded onto the low coefficient of thermal expansion nailing means. A method of molding the grill structure onto the nailing means is also shown.

Abstract: A P-trap device for plumbing drainage systems is shown. The device has a first tubing element having a pipe attachment bell at one end and a first coupler portion at the other end and a second tubing element having a pipe attachment bell at one end and a second coupler portion at the other end, wherein said first and second coupler portions are sized and shaped to be coupled together. The device further has at least one of said first or second tubing element being a generally unshaped section sized and shaped to trap water therein. A connector to releasably couple said first and second coupler portions together is included, the connector including a sealing gasket. The sealing gasket, first coupling portion and second coupling portion are sized and shaped to permit the first and second coupler portions to be coupled together over a range of angles to form a leak resistant joint without introducing stresses into the plumbing system. Most preferably the shape of the connecting portions is in the form of male and female matching part spherical sealing surfaces.

Abstract: A passive venting device for venting a building comprising a base comprising (1) a vent structure for permitting gases to pass in and out of the building; (2) an attachment structure coupled to the vent structure for attaching the device; and (3) a gas-permeable screen sized, shaped and positioned to prevent objects from passing through said vent structure, and having an airflow-enhancing configuration for providing greater airflow area than screens of ordinary sloped configuration; and a cover mountable to the base so as to cover the vent structure and permit the free flow of gas. The gas-permeable screen is spaced from the attachment structure in a direction vertically away the roof.

Abstract: A wastewater separator to separate waste from a mixed wastewater stream including one or more of heavy waste, light waste and water. The wastewater separator comprises a separation container, a inlet and an outlet. The separation container comprises (1) a wastewater stream director within the separation container, the wastewater stream director being sized, shaped and positioned relative to the wastewater inlet to direct the wastewater stream along a preferred flow path to permit the light waste to separate from the wastewater stream in a first direction to a collection area and to permit the heavy waste to separate from the wastewater stream in a second direction towards a heavy waste removal area; and (2) a flow-directing outlet baffle within the separation container for directing the wastewater stream to the wastewater outlet from the heavy waste removal area to remove the heavy waste from the separation container.
