    Abstract: A printer includes a processor and a thermal head having a plurality of heating elements to print an image having a plurality of print lines on a printing medium on the basis of printing data, wherein in an initial control period, for any printing data, the processor causes the thermal head to perform a division printing for each of the print lines that are to be printed in the control period, the division printing being such that for each print line to be printed, the plurality of heating elements are divided into a plurality of subgroups and the respective subgroups of the heating elements are activated in a time-divided manner, and wherein in a normal period after the control period, the processor causes the thermal head performs a non-division printing for at least some of the print lines that are to be printed in the normal period.

    Abstract: Provided is a printing apparatus which includes a thermal head having a plurality of heat generation elements whose temperatures are controlled by applying a voltage and performing printing on a printing medium and a head drive circuit being supplied periodically with a control signal and print data to control application of a voltage to each of the plurality of heat generation elements. One period of the control signal includes first and second voltage application control periods which are separated from each other.     Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a thermal head and a processor. The thermal head has heat-generating elements and prints on a plurality of lines in a medium in setting periods. The processor sets a second period within each setting period. The second period is a time period for adjusting a temperature change of the heat-generating elements without printing, after a first period for printing. The processor determines a nth line (n: an integer of 1 or greater) among the lines based on printing data for printing the image. The nth line is a line estimated to have a possibility of sticking on the medium by the thermal head. The processor adjusts a temperature change of at least a part of the heat-generating elements in the second periods corresponding to at least the nth line and a (n+1)th line, to suppress the sticking.
