Abstract: A flame retardant foam polystyrene bead comprises: (A) a mixed resin including (a1) about 90 wt % to about 99 wt % of a styrene resin and (a2) about 1 wt % to about 10 wt % of a char-generating thermoplastic resin; (B) inorganic foam particles dispersed in the mixed resin; and (C) a foaming agent impregnated into the mixed resin containing the dispersed inorganic foam particles. The foam produced using the flame retardant foam polystyrene bead can have good flame retardancy, insulation, and mechanical strength properties.
