Abstract: The present invention is a system including an oleophilic sponge and a pump assembly. The system is designed to remove non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) from water. The pump includes a filter through which NAPLs are absorbed into the sponge. The pump compresses the sponge, thereby releasing the NAPLs into the annulus of the pump assembly. The NAPLs can then be easily removed or treated.
