Abstract: A method for evaluating a fluid to reduce a deposition of a solid within a fractured subterranean formation may include obtaining information about materials inside of a testing vessel, where the materials are designed to be representative of the fractured subterranean formation. The method may also include providing a fluid that flows through the materials inside the testing vessel for a period of time, where the testing vessel is subjected to conditions designed to be representative of downhole conditions of the fractured subterranean formation. The method may also include evaluating the material to characterize the deposition of the solid on at least some of the materials after the period of time.

Abstract: A solids-laden fluid loss control pill comprises a base fluid, a viscosifier, a fluid loss control agent, and a blend of calcium carbonate particles having at least two different sizes, wherein at least a portion of the blend of calcium carbonate particles are synthetic calcium carbonate particles formed from captured carbon dioxide. The blend of calcium carbonate particles can include natural calcium carbonate particles. The fluid loss control pill is used in a fluid loss control operation in a well.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a system includes a housing having a cavity defined therein for holding a test sample, a first inlet in fluid communication with the cavity to deliver fluid to the test sample, a second inlet in fluid communication with the cavity to deliver fluid to the test sample, the first inlet configured to deliver fluid to the test sample in a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction that the second inlet is configured to deliver fluid to the test sample, an outlet in fluid communication with the cavity to receive fluid from the test sample, and a force applicator configured to apply compressive force to the test sample within the cavity. The force applicator forms a seal with the housing while applying compressive force to the test sample. The system also comprises at least one sensor configured to, while fluid flows from at least one of the inlets through the test sample to the outlet, determine a fluid characteristic, a test sample characteristic, or any combination thereof.
