Abstract: In one aspect, a method includes discovering, by a first network router in a network of routers associated with a provider network, a network address translation service available at one or more second network routers, and selecting the network address translation service at one of the one or more second network routers, the network address translation service allowing the first network router to remain on a default Multicast Distribution Tree (MDT) while at least a number of the one or more second network routers receive data flows over a data MDT.
