摘要: In one embodiment, a first networking device associated with a switched network comprises one or more processors and one or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to perform acts comprising configuring, on the first networking device, a network-address-translation (NAT) rule indicating that a first multicast group is to be translated to a second multicast group. The acts further include, at least partly in response to the configuring of the NAT rule, storing the NAT rule at the first networking device, generating a message indicating the NAT rule, and sending the message to at least a second networking device associated with the switched network.

摘要: In one illustrative example, a network node connected in a network fabric may identify that it is established as part of a multicast distribution tree for forwarding multicast traffic from a source node to one or more host receiver devices of a multicast group. In response, the network node may propagate in the network fabric a message for advertising the network node as a candidate local source node at which to join the multicast group. The message for advertising may include data such as a reachability metric. The propagation of the message may be part of a flooding of such messages in the network fabric. The network node serving as the candidate local source node may thereafter “locally” join a host receiver device in the multicast group at the network node so that the device may receive the multicast traffic from the source node via the network node.

摘要: In one embodiment, a method is performed. A device may include an interface in communication with a network. The device may determine whether an all-active multi-homed ethernet segment (ES) associated with the interface is enabled. On a condition that an all-active multi-homed ES is enabled, the device may determine an ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) designated forwarder (DF) state of the all-active multi-homed ES. If the all-active multi-homed ES is enabled and has an ethernet virtual private network (EVPN) designated forwarder (DF) state, the device may enter a protocol independent multicast (PIM) designated router (DR) state. If an all-active multi-homed ES is enabled and does not have an EVPN DF state, the device may enter a PIM non-DR state.

摘要: Systems and methods provide for the dynamic discovery, update and propagation of multicast streams capabilities in a network. An endpoint can be coupled to a first hop router in a network environment. The first hop router can discover multicast flow characteristics information associated with the endpoint and propagate the multicast flow characteristics information of the endpoint to additional network nodes in the network environment. The first hop router and at least a portion of the additional network nodes can form one or more multicast flows associated with the endpoint through the network environment using the multicast flow characteristic information associated with the endpoint.

摘要: In an example method for redundant multicast trees with fast recovery, a protocol independent multicast (PIM) backup designated router (BDR) can receive a request from a host to join a multicast group associated with a source; send to a next hop a PIM join message identifying an address of the PIM BDR and identifying the PIM join message as a backup PIM join; receive, from a PIM router along a path to/from the source, a unicast message sent to the address which identifies a second address associated with the PIM router; store the second address and a route associated with the unicast message; in response to a designated router migration trigger, set to blocking a backup multicast tree state associated with the source and multicast group; and send, to the PIM router, a unicast message including instructions to set to blocking a backup multicast tree state at the PIM router.

摘要: Techniques for utilizing Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controllers and network border leaf nodes of respective cloud computing networks to configure a data transmission route for a multicast group. Each border leaf node may maintain a respective external sources database, including a number of records indicating associations between a multicast data source, one or more respective border leaf nodes disposed in the same network as the multicast data source, and network capability information. A border leaf node, disposed in the same network as a multicast data source, may broadcast a local source discovery message to all border leaf nodes in remote networks to which it is communicatively coupled. A border leaf node may also communicate network capability information associated with one or more remote networks to a local SDN controller. The SDN controller may utilize the network capability information to configure a data transmission route to one or more destination nodes.

摘要: In an aspect, an embodiment of the present disclosure is directed to network control topology that implements a centralized network controller to deterministically assign, and reassign, underlay multicast groups according to one or more policies and/or parameterized intent of the network administrator. The centralized network controller, in some embodiments, comprises a map server-neap resolver controller configured to provide deterministic and centralized allocation of underlay multi cast groups, e.g., to provide security, traffic engineering, network and resource management.

摘要: A router node may be configured for communication of multicast traffic in a network fabric which may include a plurality of spine nodes interconnected to a plurality of leaf nodes. The router node may be configured as one of the leaf nodes and serve as a first hop router for multicast traffic. At the router node, a message for flooding the network fabric may be sent based on an indication of communication of multicast traffic for a multicast group from a source device. The message may include at least one spine node identifier of at least one preferred spine node joined to the multicast group at the router node. The message may be for indicating, to at least one of the leaf nodes, to prioritize joining to the multicast group at the at least one preferred spine node according to at least one spine node identifier.
