Abstract: A method to estimate a time to full charge of battery packs of an electric vehicle, including: determining a predetermined transition voltage based on a charging capacity of a charger; estimating a voltage of a battery pack; determining a constant charging-current phase duration, a transition from the constant charging-current phase duration to a tapered charging-current phase occurring when the estimated voltage equals the predetermined transition voltage, the constant charging-current phase duration being based on the transition to the tapered charging-current phase; determining a tapered charging-current phase duration; and adding the constant charging-current phase duration to the tapered charging-current phase duration to determine a charging time.
