    Abstract: An information handling system includes a host processing system and a Liquid Crystal Display device. The host processing system includes a graphics processing unit (GPU) and the LCD device includes a memory device and a DisplayPort Configuration Data (DPCD) register. The host processing system 1) determines whether the first GPU supports a Dynamic Display Shifting (DDS) mode, 2) when the GPU does not support the DDS mode, provides a first indication to the LCD device that the GPU does not support the DDS mode, and 3) when the GPU supports the DDS mode, provides a second indication to the LCD device that the GPU supports the DDS mode. The LCD device retrieves a Panel Self Refresh (PSR) setting from the memory device and stores the PSR setting to the DPCD register in response to the first indication, and retrieves a DDS setting from the memory and stores the DDS setting to the DPCD register in response to the second indication.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to enable the same internal display panel assembly (e.g., HDR display panel assembly) of an information handling system to support proper operation with image data provided from different types of graphics processing units (GPUs). A single configuration or type of the internal display panel assembly may be provided within the system to support graphics from one or more GPUs from multiple different graphics suppliers, and one or more programmable integrated circuits of the system may be configured to communicate information or signal/s to a timing controller (TCON) of the internal display panel assembly that corresponds to a proper DPCD profile or interface specification selection for use with a currently-selected GPU of the system. The TCON of the internal panel assembly may be configured to respond to this communicated information or signal/s by selecting and loading a proper DPCD profile or interface definition that corresponds to the currently-selected GPU of the system.

    Abstract: A liquid crystal display has position-adjustable light sources. The light sources may be lamps, LEDs, or other emissive components. The light sources, however, are movable to adjust the locations or positions of their light outputs. The light sources ride upon electromagnet carriers. When currents are applied to the electromagnet carriers, each electromagnet carrier creates a corresponding magnetic field. The magnetic fields cause neighboring electromagnet carriers to attract or to repel, depending on the magnitude/polarity of the currents. The lateral and vertical positions of the electromagnet carriers may thus be adjusted by varying their respective currents and magnetic fields. Because the light sources ride on the electromagnet carriers, the light sources may be moved to refine an image generated by the liquid crystal display. The light sources, for example, may be moved to improve white/black contracts to reduce halo-effects.
