Abstract: An abnormality determination apparatus for an ammonia sensor is usable in an exhaust purification system including a catalyst, a supply apparatus, an ammonia sensor, an NOX sensor, and an oxygen sensor. During a continuation period within which ammonia supply to the catalyst continues after the supply apparatus stops supply of reductant, the abnormality determination apparatus calculates the ammonia concentration on a downstream side of the catalyst as a first concentration value, based on an output of the ammonia sensor and an output of the oxygen sensor. During the continuation period, the abnormality determination apparatus calculates the ammonia concentration on the downstream side of the catalyst as a second concentration value, based on an output of the NOX sensor and the output of the oxygen sensor. The abnormality determination apparatus determines presence or absence of abnormality in the ammonia sensor based on the first concentration value and the second concentration value.

Abstract: A gas sensor includes a sensor element. The sensor element includes; a solid electrolyte body that has oxygen ion conductivity and includes a first main surface exposed to a gas to be measured and a second main surface exposed to a reference gas; a sensor electrode that is provided on the first main surface and detects a specific gas component in the gas to be measured; and a reference electrode that is provided on the second main surface. The sensor electrode is made of a Pt—Rh alloy that contains 30 mass % to 70 mass % Pt and 70 mass % to 30 mass % Rh, when an overall noble metal component is 100 mass %. A variation amount of the Rh content of the Pt—Rh alloy from an outermost surface to a depth of 350 nm in a thickness direction of the sensor electrode is within a range of up to 10 mass %.

Abstract: A gas sensor element of the present disclosure includes a measurement gas chamber, a pump cell, a sensor cell including a sensor electrode, and a pump-cell controller. When the gas sensor element is activated before detecting a concentration of a gas, in order to remove oxygen occluded in the sensor electrode, the pump-cell controller applies a removing voltage to the pump cell so that a reducing gas is generated. The sensor electrode has a plurality of noble metal regions which are made of noble metal and electrolyte regions which are distributed so that an interface is generated between a part of a solid electrolyte body and the plurality of noble metal regions. The sensor electrode has an open pore which extends from an electrode surface of the sensor electrode and reaches at least one of the plurality of noble metal regions.

Abstract: A control device performs deterioration diagnosis of a gas sensor including a pump cell and a sensor cell. The control device includes a control unit, a determination value acquisition unit, a diagnosis unit, and a correction unit. The control unit temporarily reduces the oxygen removal capability of the pump cell. The determination value acquisition unit acquires an output ratio of the sensor cell based on an output value of the sensor cell in a state where the oxygen removal capability of the pump cell is temporarily reduced. The diagnosis unit performs deterioration diagnosis of the gas sensor by comparing the output ratio with a determination threshold. The correction unit sets a correction coefficient based on an atmospheric pressure and an oxygen concentration, and also corrects the output ratio using the correction coefficient.

Abstract: A nitrous oxide concentration detector includes a control unit. In the control unit, a first control section controls a voltage application section and a heater to achieve a first state in which nitric oxide undergoes electrolysis and nitrous oxide does not undergo electrolysis. A second control section controls the voltage application section and the heater to achieve a second state in which nitric oxide and nitrous oxide undergo electrolysis. An estimation section estimates an estimated current that flows between a first electrode and a second electrode due to electrolysis of nitric oxide in the second state based on a first current detected by a current detector in the first state. A calculation section calculates a nitrous oxide concentration based on a third current obtained by subtracting the estimated current estimated by the estimation section from a second current detected by the current detector in the second state.
