    Abstract: A vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus displays a detection line on a display unit, with side portions of the detection line positioned on far-off spots that are farther than a spot on which a center portion of the detection line is positioned. In addition, based on the distance of the respective spots on which the portions of the detection line are positioned, the apparatus includes a parameter table that defines different parameters for a short distance portion, a middle distance portion, and a long distance portion of the detection line. The apparatus detects a moving object based on an actual-detected brightness change of a pixel along the detection line and a predefined brightness change of a pixel along the detection line that is defined by the parameter of the parameter table.

    Abstract: An image generation unit generates images showing a vehicle and the vicinity from a virtual viewpoint set outside the vehicle using the vicinity of the vehicle acquired by image acquisition units. A path estimation unit estimates a driving path of the vehicle on the basis of a driving state of the vehicle.     Abstract: In a periphery monitoring apparatus, a display processing unit displays, in a display apparatus that is provided in a vehicle, a plurality of captured images that are acquired by a plurality of cameras provided in a plurality of differing positions in the vehicle and have overlapping portions in which portions of imaging areas overlap each other, such that the overlapping portions remain. A determining unit determines whether a predetermined target object to be detected is present in each of the plurality of captured images. The display processing unit includes an enlargement processing unit that enlarges at least one captured image in which the target object is determined to be present, among the plurality of captured images, and displays the captured image in the display apparatus when the determining unit determines that the target object is present in at least one of the plurality of captured images.

    Abstract: A driving assistance device converts an image captured by an in-vehicle camera configured to image the periphery of a vehicle into an image viewed from a virtual viewpoint. The driving assistance device combines, as a higher-level layer, a vehicle image indicating the position and shape of the vehicle with a converted target image. The driving assistance device adjusts the opacity of the vehicle image such that the target image as a lower-level layer is visible at a superimposed portion of the vehicle image and the target image. At this point, the opacity of the vehicle image is variably set according to at least one of an own vehicle surrounding condition or a vehicle running condition. The driving assistance device outputs, as a driving assistance image, the target image combined with the adjusted vehicle image.

    Abstract: A vehicle periphery monitoring apparatus detects the presence of a moving object along a vehicle periphery. The apparatus sets multiple detection lines along a horizontal axis of an image captured by a camera, and detects a brightness change of a pixel along the detection lines. With reference to the brightness change detected along the detection line and a parameter for determining whether such brightness change is caused by the moving object, the apparatus determines the presence of the moving object. In addition, the apparatus changes a determination condition for determining the moving object such that as the number of detection lines along which the brightness change is detected decreases, the harder it is to satisfy the determination condition for determining that the moving object is present.
