    Abstract: A computer-implemented method of planning of the shapes of free-form tool paths (P) for simultaneous two-sided machining of a dental restoration (1) having an individual free-form target geometry from a workpiece (2) by using a dental tool machine (3) having at least two tool spindles each having at least one tool (4) arranged on a different side of the workpiece (2) which is simultaneously movable along an axis (y) relative to the tools (4) thereby imposing a kinematic axis coupling. The method includes a step of determining transformations (T′, T″) of the target geometry by which the kinematic axis coupling is converted into a common coupling parameter for both tools (4); and a step of generating dependent on these transformations (T′, T″) the shapes of the free-form tool paths (P) in which the common coupling parameter is identical in time for all participating tool spindles that are driven simultaneously.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the design and manufacture of a dental component with a surface, wherein a 3D model of the dental component is designed by means of a CAD unit and the dental component is manufactured by a CAM unit on the basis of the 3D model. In order to provide a method which significantly shortens the time required for the design and manufacture of a dental component, so that the length of the dental session at which the patient must be present is shortened, it is inventively proposed that the 3D model is manufactured in at least one first design step, in which a first 3D submodel is designed with at least one first surface section, and a second design step in which a second 3D submodel is designed with at least one second surface section, wherein the first design step is completed before the second design step and the CAM unit begins the manufacture of the first surface section of the dental component based on the first 3D submodel before the design of the second 3D submodel is completed.

    Abstract: In the method for producing medical, in particular dental fitting bodies with a specified or custom three-dimensionally curved outer contour or preform of the fitting body with a rough outer contour, which has an allowance relative to the outer contour, a workpiece, from which the fitting body or its preform is produced, is machined in a material-removing manner by means of a tool engaging in the workpiece. The tool path has directional components transverse to the run of the contour to be produced and the cutting edges have a defined geometry. The tool engages into the workpiece at a cutting arc angle alpha of the circumferential surface of less than 90° on average and at an insertion depth of at least twice the tool diameter (D) and the machining of the workpiece occurs along a tool path with directional components contrary to a machining direction following the outer contour.
