    Abstract: A process for producing a water-soluble, hydrolysis-stable, polymerizable polymer, comprising a) a step of copolymerizing a mixture comprising (i) a first copolymerizable monomer comprising at least one optionally protected carboxylic acid group and a first polymerizable organic moiety, and (ii) a second copolymerizable monomer comprising one or more optionally protected primary and/or secondary amino groups and a second polymerizable organic moiety, for obtaining an amino group containing copolymer; b) a step of coupling to the amino group containing copolymer a compound having a polymerizable moiety and a functional group reactive with an amino group of repeating units derived from the second copolymerizable monomer in the amino group containing copolymer obtained in the first step wherein the optionally protected amino group is deprotected, so that polymerizable pendant groups are linked to the backbone by hydrolysis-stable linking groups, and, optionally, a step of deprotecting the protected carboxylic acid group after step (a) or step (b), for obtaining a polymerizable polymer.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7 as well as to the use of a stabilizer for the preparation of an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7. In particular, the present invention relates to an aqueous dental composition having a pH of less than 7 comprising (i) one or more polymerizable compounds having at least one polymerizable double bond; (ii) a polymerization initiator system containing a) an 1,2-diketone photoinitiator compound having a light absorption maximum in the range from 300 to 500 nm; and b) a coinitiator compound; (iii) a stabilizer of the following formula (I) and/or (II), wherein the Rs, which may be the same or different, independently represent a branched C3-8 alkyl or alkenyl group, or a C3-8 cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group, R′ represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-6 alkyl or C2-6 alkenyl group, or a C1-6 fluoroalkyl or C2-6 fluoroalkenyl group, X represents a group selected from a C1-8 alkyl group or a C3-8 cycloalkyl group, and n is 0, 1 or 2; and a solvent mixture comprising an organic solvent and at least 1 percent by weight of water based on the total weight of the aqueous dental composition.
