Abstract: Sectional prefabricated thermal insulating elements for projecting portions of large structures having inaccurately positioned components, such as the nozzles of reactor vessels, are formed in semicylindrical parts of different diameters held together against longitudinal separation by overlapping sheet metal parts which permit them to move transversely of each other and of the longitudinal axis. The parts are buckled together and separable both longitudinally and transversely of the axis.
