Abstract: Fibreboards made from lignocellulosic fibres and painted with a water-based paint have a tendency to ''''brown'''' on the surface. Such browning is prevented by coating the surface of the fibreboard with a solution of a water-soluble salt of barium, calcium, strontium or lead prior to painting with a water-base paint. A preferred solution is one of chloride.
