Abstract: A coating composition especially suitable for foodstuffs and pharmaceutical preparations which comprises an acylated glyceride having an iodine value below 12 admixed in certain proportions with a cellulose propionate having an acetyl content less than about 6% by weight, a hydroxyl content less than about 3.0% by weight and a content of acyl groups having more than 3 carbon atoms of less than about 10% by weight.
