Abstract:
A high energy explosive composition comprising an inorganic oxygen supplying salt, a metallic fuel and a eutectic mixture comprising an oxygen supplying salt and a combustible compound capable of lowering the solidification point of the oxygen supplying salt in admixture therewith in the eutectic composition; a eutectic composition comprising an oxygen supplying salt, a compound capable of reducing the solidification of said oxygen supplying salt and in admixtured therewith at least 30% by weight of a composition comprising an alkanolamine nitrate or perchlorate.
Abstract:
An explosive composition comprising a perchlorate and a solvent therefor, preferably a high boiling solvent in which the perchlorate is highly soluble.
Abstract:
In a method of filling aquiferous boreholes with a powdered ammonium nitrate explosive containing swelling and waterrepellentizing agents which is uncartridged by means of a gaseous propellant from a pressure tank through a conduit, the improvement which comprises feeding said explosive composition to said aquiferous borehole through an orifice positioned toward the bottom of the borehole and thereafter step-wise or continuously withdrawing from the bottom such orifice from such conduit such that the orifice is located no more than 50 cm above the surface of the delivered explosive and below the surface of the water in the borehole.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a method for preventing firedamp ignitions during blasting in underground mining which comprises separating the space where the explosive charge is to be detonated from the space where the firedamp is present by providing therebetween a zone containing a layer in the form of, for example, a paste or a foam containing a liquid in a uniform distribution. The present disclosure is also directed to blasting elements for preventing said firedamp ignitions.
