    摘要: There is provided an optical pick-up used for recording data to and/or reproducing data from at least three types of optical discs having at least two different thicknesses of cover layers. The optical pick-up includes light sources and an objective lens.     摘要: In an optical information recording/reproducing device which executes information reading or writing on multiple types of optical discs having different data densities by selectively using first through third light beams having first through third wavelengths, respectively, at least one side of an optical element is provided with a step structure including a plurality of concentric refracting surfaces and steps between them. The steps include first steps each giving a first optical path length difference specified by a first optical path difference function, second steps each giving a second optical path length difference specified by a second optical path difference function, and special steps each giving an optical path length difference obtained by the sum or difference of/between the first and second optical path length differences. Annular zone widths between adjacent steps are set at 10 times the first wavelength or more.

    摘要: A optical system of an optical pick-up is provided. The optical system includes an optical element including at least a phase shift surface among the surfaces thereof, and located closer to a light source than the objective lens. In this configuration, t1≦t2 is satisfied, where t1 represents a thickness of a cover layer of a first optical disc for which a first laser beam is employed, and t2 a thickness of a cover layer of a second optical disc for which a second laser beam, having a longer wavelength than the first laser beam, is employed. NA1≧NA2 is satisfied, where NA1 represents a numerical aperture for the first optical disc, and NA 2 the numerical aperture for the second optical disc. The phase shift surface includes a first region that converges the first laser beam on a recording surface of the first optical disc, and the second laser beam on a recording surface of the second optical disc. The first region includes at least an annular zone structure having an annular zone group including a step that gives an additional optical path length to the first laser beam generally by two wavelengths, with respect to an inner refracting surface at a boundary between adjacent refracting surfaces, and a return step portion located at an outer position of the annular zone group. The return step includes a step that gives an additional optical path length to the first laser beam generally by three wavelengths with respect to an inner refracting surface located inside of the return step, in an opposite direction to the step of the annular zone group.

    摘要: An optical system of an optical pick-up for a plurality of types of optical discs with a corresponding plurality of light sources. A first coupling lens that is used at least for the first optical disc, and an objective lens that is used for the plurality of types of optical discs. A beam for the first optical disc emitted by the plurality of light sources passes through the first coupling lens and is incident on the objective lens as a diverging beam. The diverging beam being given spherical aberration by the coupling lens. When the objective lens shift occurs, a coma component relating to the spherical aberration of the diverging beam which is shifted with respect to the objective lens due to the shift of the objective lens is canceled by a coma generated by the objective lens and the cover layer of the first optical disc.

    摘要: There is provided an optical disc drive for recordation/reproduction for three types of optical discs by selectively using one of three types of light beams. The optical disc drive comprises an objective lens. The objective lens has a step structure which gives an optical path length difference to an incident beam at each step. When the third laser beam passes through the objective lens, the objective lens produces normal diffraction order light converging to a recording surface of the third optical disc and undesired diffraction order light converging to a point deviating from the recording surface of the third optical disc. A distance from a point to which the normal diffraction order light converges to a point to which the undesired diffraction order light converges is larger than or equal to twice a pull-in range of a focus error signal obtained when the third optical disc is used.
