摘要: A method and means for automatic alignment of ink-jet printheads includes fitting measuring constructs to actual print data acquired form a print made using a given, predetermined, test pattern data set. Specific test patterns for use in automated alignment of ink-jet printheads are suited to providing a variety of printhead alignment information in a compact format. The test pattern data set incorporates techniques for avoiding carriage-induced dynamic errors during automated alignment of ink-jet printheads.

摘要: Techniques for providing a face down orientation of printed media at a normally face up output of a printer. One technique achieves correct order orientation in a printer having a duplexing function, and includes printing a page of the print job at a print area, passing the page through a duplexing media path to reorient the page in a page down orientation, passing the page through the print area in the page down orientation without conducting a printing operation, and passing the page from the print area to an output area in correct order orientation. Another technique includes advancing a page from an input source to a print area, conducting printing operations on the page at the print area, transporting the page away from the print area, diverting the page into an auxiliary media path portion and transporting the page, leading edge first, until a trailing edge of the page passes a diverter location, transporting the page in the reverse direction such that the trailing edge now becomes the leading edge, and diverting the present leading edge of the page along a media path leading to the normally face up output, such that the page is presented to the normally face down output in a face down orientation.

摘要: A method, a computer readable medium and an apparatus for reducing the impact of slew decap on image quality in a printing system is disclosed. In one respect, the invention pertains to a method for reducing the impact of slew decap on image quality in a printing system includes a printhead. The printhead includes a nozzle and the nozzle is configured to fire ink on a print medium. The ink is operable to produce a pixel on the print medium. The method includes producing a pixel with the nozzle. The pixel is produced by multi-dotting. Multi-dotting includes firing ink multiple times in succession from the nozzle at a pixel location corresponding to the pixel. In another respect, the invention pertains to a computer readable medium on which is embedded computer software comprising a set of instructions for performing the above method. In yet another respect, the invention utilizes an apparatus configured perform the above method.

摘要: An apparatus and method of aligning different color print heads of an ink jet printer by printing a sequence of extended-area first alignment elements in a first color, then printing an overlaying sequence of extended-area second alignment elements in a second color. Each of the alignment elements includes an array of spaced apart printed lines. The first alignment elements are printed to nominal reference positions, and the second alignment elements are offset from the reference positions by differing amounts. The degree of overlap of the first and second color lines is readily visible, and the most thoroughly overlapped alignment element may be readily identified. The identity of this element may then be fed back to the printer to respond with electronic alignment measures.
