摘要： A bulkhead connector (100,200) includes an array of bus bars (150,250) extending from a first face to a second face for interconnecting associated power cables (20,30) on opposing sides of the bulkhead (10). Embedded within the connector is a substrate (b 130,230) of fire resistant material extending transversely completely across the bulkhead opening (12), with apertures (144,244) through which extend the bus bars. Exposed contact sections (152,154;252,254) of the bus bars permit terminals (24,34) to be fastened thereto, and the connector is adapted to prevent rotation of the fastened terminals during in-service use.

摘要： According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for selectively introducing birefringence in an optical fiber includes an actuator which selectively exerts a force on the fiber, and a registration key which selectively orients an axis of the optical fiber at predetermined azimuths. According to another illustrative embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for changing the polarization state of an optical signal includes a plurality of sequentially connected phase shifters, wherein each of the phase shifters is adapted to exert a force on an optical fiber disposed therein. Each of the plurality of phase shifters includes a registration key which selectively orients an axis of the optical fiber disposed in the registration key at a predetermined azimuth.

摘要： An ejection system for engaging a transceiver to a host circuit board in a guide rail having a front and back orientation and for ejecting said transceiver from said guide rail, said system comprising: (a) a latching mechanism within said guide rail adapted for latching to a projection extending from a housing of a transceiver when said transceiver is moved backward on said guide rail to an engaging position, thereby preventing said transceiver from moving forward; (b) resilient means within said guide rail adapted for urging said transceiver forward when said transceiver is in said engaging position; and (c) a release mechanism within said card guide and adapted for disengaging said latching mechanism from said projection when said release mechanism is actuated to a releasing position, thereby allowing said resilient means to move said transceiver forward.

The assembly includes a thin apertured organizer (50) movable along pin sections (40) and further includes a pair of guide posts (80) affixed to the housing (12) for example and extending through larger-diametered apertures (58) through organizer flanges (60) to leading ends (84) insertable into guide holes (154) of mother board (100). Organizer (50) abuts board (15) and is thereafter urged relatively toward and against housing (12) upon full mounting, being movable along guide posts (80) and pin sections (42). The assembly is accurately positionable with respect to the through-hole array by reason of the guide post leading ends (84) being received into guide holes (154) prior to pin section leading ends (44 ) entering through-holes (156).

摘要： A system of keying and fastening together a pair of mating connectors is provided where each of the connectors is of the type having forward and rearward thin walled metal shells clinched together about their flanged edges to retain a housing means therewithin, with the forward and rearward shells having adjacent aperture lateral flanges. The system includes a pair of key members each securable to the front of the forward shell at a respective lateral flange, seated within correspondingly hexagonally shaped flange apertures of the forward shell only, held against the front surface of the rearward shell. On one of the connectors a pair of jackscrews extend through the flange apertures and through with the apertures being slightly larger than the jackscrew portions extending therethrough, the jackscrews being apertures of the key members of the one connector, secured rearwardly of the connector by means permitting rotation after mounting and simultaneously securing the key members to the connector. The key members of the other connector have threaded apertures thereinto from the leading end for being threadedly engaged by the threaded leading ends of the jackscrews of the mating connector, to fasten the connectors together during mating immediately after keying.
