    摘要: Methods and systems for managing communication between a key fob and a host device are provided. In one implementation, the system includes a key fob configured to operate in accordance with one of a plurality of modes, including an automatic mode and a manual mode. The system further includes a host device associated with the key fob, wherein responsive to the key fob operating in accordance with the automatic mode, the key fob is configured to page periodically, and the host device is configured to page-scan periodically to detect a page from the key fob. In one implementation, the key fob further includes a controller configured to dynamically adjust a signal strength of a communication signal between the key fob and the host device in accordance with a mode of operation selected (or desired) by the user.

    摘要: A method and system for overriding a hard drive Active Protection System (APS). APS automatically parks a read/write head and locks the platters in a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) in a notebook computer in response to a physical shock, such as when the computer is dropped from the user's lap or during intense vibration caused by air turbulence during a passenger flight. Rather than permanently disabling the APS off, the present invention permits a convenient method and system for temporarily suspending the operations of the APS, thus allowing the user to still access the HDD in conditions in which motion occurs yet physical shock is not necessarily imminent.

    摘要: An apparatus, system, and process for demarking a control object using direct non-visible light is disclosed. A non-visible light reactive compound is applied to the control object. In one embodiment, the non-visible light reactive compound forms a designator. A non-visible light source directly radiates the non-visible light reactive compound. The non-visible light reactive compound reacts to the non-visible light by radiating visible light, illuminating the non-visible light reactive compound. The illuminated non-visible light reactive compound demarks the control object. In one embodiment, the non-visible light source is an ultraviolet light source and the non-visible light reactive compound is an ultraviolet reactive compound.
