摘要： A portable electric appliance steaming hair rollers prior to use includes a closed box-shaped housing removably holding a plurality of foam covered steam absorbent hair rollers. A manually actuated pump is provided in the housing for transferring a measured charge of water from a water reservoir removable from the housing for filling to an electrically heated steam boiler located in the housing and communicating with a cup-shaped roller support designed to support a single roller for steaming. The support is provided with an orifice receiving steam from the boiler through a predetermined path to soak or saturate a supported roller with steam to prepare the roller for use. A flexible membrane type valve is located below the orifice between the support and the boiler for permitting steam only to flow to the roller from the boiler and preventing flooding of the boiler should water be mistakenly dumped into the cup-shaped roller support. The reservoir has a one-way valve in its base which is actuated when the water filled reservoir placed into the housing to connect water flow through the pump to the boiler.

摘要： A cooking device and method for cooking food items by boiling and by steaming is provided. The method of cooking the food items includes placing an amount of liquid in a recess of the cooking device, heating the recess to heat a liquid therein to a cooking temperature, and receiving the sidewalls of a bowl having apertures in a bottom surface thereof in the recess, in a first position, for cooking by boiling. The bowl is supported in a second position over the recess on an intermediate member for cooking the food items by steaming.

摘要： A mixer includes a primary operating switch for connecting the mixer to a source of electrical energy and a secondary operating switch for selectively increasing the power of the mixer. The primary operating switch is movable between a first position whereat the mixer is disconnected from the source of electrical energy and a second position whereat the mixer is connected to the source of electrical energy. The primary operating switch includes a stop. The secondary switch is movable between a first position whereat the mixer is operating at normal power and a second position whereat the mixer is operating at increased power. The stop of the primary switch is disposed in the path of travel of the secondary switch when the primary switch is in its first operating position to prevent the secondary switch from being placed into the second position thereof. The stop is displaced from the path of travel of the secondary switch when the primary switch is placed into its second operating position.

摘要： The invention relates to a food processor of the slicer/shredder type having a power base L-shaped housing with a second feed chute housing rotatably attached to the L-shaped housing to extend above it in an operative position over the L with the chute foldable in a box-like position for compact and convenient storage. In this general combination, a simple clutch structure is disposed between the housing and chute to provide a rotatable function whereby the chute is rotated into one position for removal for cleaning, into a second upright position where food is inserted into cutters and discharged, and into a third position opposite the second whereby the chute is secured and locked into a compact low box-like profile for easy storage.
