Abstract:
A wireless data communication card configured in accordance with an example embodiment of the invention includes a low profile antenna arrangement that does not protrude from the housing of the computing device when the wireless data communication card is inserted into the housing. The low profile design is achieved without compromising the radio frequency (“RF”) characteristics and performance of the wireless data communication card by tuning the antenna arrangement to account for conductive ground structure located within the housing of the computing device. In accordance with one practical embodiment of the invention, the wireless data communication card is compliant with IEEE Standard 802.11(b) and compliant with PCMCIA specifications.
Abstract:
Magnification/reduction is achieved by a single FIR filter under the control of a Digital Differential Analyzer (DDA) as would be used to simulate a perfectly straight line on a two-dimensional raster. The single FIR filter combines the processes of interpolation, filter, and decimation. The DDA is programmed with the desired magnification/reduction ratio and provides signals that control shifting of input samples into the FIR filter and selection of FIR coefficients for the FIR filter.

Abstract:
The present invention includes a method and apparatus for controlling the exhaust temperature of an engine is disclosed. The method includes the steps of sensing the exhaust temperature of the engine, determining a desired air pressure in response to the exhaust temperature, and controlling the air flow into the engine in response to the desired air pressure. The apparatus includes an air temperature sensor for sensing an actual exhaust temperature within the exhaust manifold and responsively generating an exhaust temperature signal. The apparatus also includes a controller for receiving the exhaust temperature signal and comparing the exhaust temperature signal to a desired exhaust port temperature, determining a desired air pressure in response to the comparison.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a nonwoven fabric laminate that comprises a thin layer of fine fibers that has a basis weight of less than 1.5 grams per square meter. The present invention also provides disposable absorbent garments, such as diapers, that in such a nonwoven fabric laminate to reduce the migration of particles in absorbent garments.
