The invention proposes a switchable finger lever (1) comprising an inner lever (2) comprising on one end (4), a support (5) for a gas exchange valve and on another end (6), a contact surface (7) for a head of a support element, said inner lever (2) comprising on the one end (4), pivotable outer arms (8) made separately from each other, which outer arms (8) comprise on their upper sides (10), contacting surfaces (11) for high lift cams, a coupling device (12) comprising a coupling slide (13) for simultaneously connecting the outer arms (8) to the inner lever (2) being seated in a section of the another end (6) in the inner lever (2), which coupling slide (13) is seated in an oblong hole (14) extending transversely through the inner lever (2) as also in longitudinal direction of the finger lever (2), the coupling slide (13) comprises two end portions (15) which protrude beyond the outer walls (9), and for effecting coupling, the coupling slide (13) can be displaced with the two end portions (15) partially under entraining surfaces (16) of the outer arms (8), whereas for effecting uncoupling, the coupling slide (13) can be displaced out of the entraining surfaces (16), and at least one restoring spring (17) extends in the region of the another end (6) between the inner lever (2) and the outer arms (8).
Abstract:
The finger follower employs two independent lost motion arms and a rod which moves longitudinally to lock both arms. The rod is transversely mounted in the follower. In order to avoid premature locking, each arm has a chamfered surface on a top wall to force the rod out of engagement with the arm during upward movement of the arms, to protect premature movement of the rod from an unlocked position to a locked position.

A valve drive (1) for an internal combustion engine with a lever-type cam follower (7) is provided, which is used for the variable adjustable transmission of a raised section (2) of a cam (3) to a gas-exchange valve (5), in that the cam follower (7) is supported with an end section (13) away from the cam on a pivot bearing (14), which can be positioned variably on a circular arc-shaped displacement path (15), and an end section (6) close to the cam includes a transmission surface (10) in connection with the gas-exchange valve (5), and also with a support (8), wherein a contact surface (9) for the cam (3) is mounted rotatably on this support (8). Here, the center of the displacement path (15) should be essentially identical to the rotational center (17) of the support (8) when the contact surface (9) interacts with a raised section-free base circle (21) of the cam (3).

A device (1) for the hydraulic lash adjustment for several identically acting gas-exchange valves per cylinder of a valve train of an internal combustion engine is provided, the device (1) including a common housing (2) with directly adjacent pressure pistons (3) provided corresponding to the number of identically acting gas-exchange valves. Each pressure piston (3) moves relative to the housing in an axial direction in a separate guide (4) in the housing (2), and also has a support (6) for an at least indirect contact with the corresponding gas-exchange valve on a distal end (5) away from the housing, and a non-return valve (8) in the region of a housing bottom (7) wherein a separate high-pressure chamber (9) is associated with each pressure piston (3) in which the non-return valve (8) opens. The high-pressure chamber (9) extends axially between the bottom (7) of the pressure piston (3) and a base (10) of the housing (2), and the pressure pistons (3) arranged in the common housing (2) have a common reservoir.

A switchable cam follower of a valve train assembly of an internal combustion engine is proposed, with an external lever that encloses an internal lever with its arms, of which components, that can deviate from each other flexibly, run on an axis that is attached to a valve side end, and the internal lever on an underside on the valve side end possesses a mechanism for a gas exchange valve as well as a complementary surface at the other end for storage on a head of a support element. A special characteristic is that guidance plates for the gas exchange valve come out from the underside of the external lever. That way, the switchable cam follower can be made narrower at least on the valve side. In addition, development of the mechanism for the gas exchange valve on the internal lever is simplified.

Proposed is a cam follower (1) for a valve drive of an internal combustion engine, having a roller (3), which is rotatably mounted on a journal (2), as a cam thrust face, which journal (2) runs with its outer casing (4) in a respective bore (5, 6) of a first and second guide wall (7, 8) of the cam follower (1), between which guide walls (7, 8) the roller (3) is held, which outer casing (4) is composed of a first and a second section (9, 10), which first section (9) intrinsically has a greater diameter than the second section (10), wherein the journal (2) has an axial travel limitation in one direction by means of its collar (11) which is situated between the sections (9, 10), and in the other direction by means of a radially projecting element such as a securing ring (12), which collar (11) and which securing ring (12) abut against one of the guide walls (7, 8).
