    Abstract: A coaxial connector torque aid, in the form of a tubular grip element, is installed over a conventional coaxial connector to facilitate tightening of the connector onto an equipment port by hand. The tubular grip element includes an outer surface for being grasped by a user, and an internal bore for extending over the connector body. The tubular grip element is axially-slidable for being axially advanced to extend over, and fixedly engage, an outer surface portion of the nut, simultaneously with axial compression of the connector over an end of a coaxial cable. The tubular grip element has an axial length exceeding that of the nut to make the nut more accessible.

    Abstract: A connector for coaxial cable is disclosed herein that has an outer body, the outer body has at least one thread on a rearward portion thereof, and tubular post having at least one projection thereon. The outer body and the tubular post are movable relative to one another to compress a portion of the coaxial cable in the connector and to draw the braided shield of the coaxial cable into the connector. The present coaxial connector accommodates coaxial cables with larger amounts of braided shielding. A related method for connecting the coaxial cable and connector is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A connector is provided for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal. The connector includes a coupler having an annnular collar, a body member, one end of which includes a deformable lip inserted with elastic deformation through the collar opening, and a post. In a cable-installed position, the post is received in the body member to form an annular chamber sufficiently narrow in the cable-installed position to compress the outer conductor and the jacket for establishing a distal seal. Tightening of the coupler to the terminal compresses the lip between the post flange and the annular collar for establishing a proximal seal.

    Abstract: A compression type coaxial cable F-connector includes a conventional coupling nut and tubular post. A cylindrical body member is secured to the tubular post and includes a sleeve for receiving the jacket of the coaxial cable. A circular relief in the sleeve allows the end of such sleeve to be deformed inwardly toward the cable jacket. A compression ring is mounted over the outer wall of the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and includes a tapered inner bore which forces the end of the sleeve inwardly against the cable jacket as the compression ring is advanced axially over the cylindrical body member. As the end of the sleeve is deformed inwardly, it extends just behind a circular barb formed about the tubular post to pinch the cable jacket therebetween. The compression ring can be manufactured as a separate component, or the compression ring can initially be integral with the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and attached thereto by a frangible connection.

    Abstract: A coaxial cable F-connector (20) includes a tubular post (32) for insertion around the dielectric (26) of the coaxial cable (22), a cylindrical body member (46) secured to the tubular post for receiving the jacket (30) of the coaxial cable, and a coupling nut (38). The tubular post includes an enlarged shoulder (80) that extends inside the nut; the nut includes an inwardly directed collar (82) that extends around the tubular post and around one end of the cylindrical body member. An O-ring (35) is disposed around one end of the cylindrical body member between the shoulder of the tubular post and the collar of the coupling nut. Limited axial movement of the coupling nut is permitted relative to the tubular post and cylindrical body member for allowing the coupling nut to spin free of the O-ring until tightening of the coupling nut over the threaded port is almost complete. Upon final tightening of the coupling nut, the O-ring forms a seal between the nut, the tubular post, and the cylindrical body member.
