Abstract:
A trigger sprayer has a housing, a piston bore within the housing, and a piston reciprocally mounted within the piston bore. The housing further includes a flow passage through which liquid passes from a passage inlet to a passage outlet. An actuator is operable to reciprocate the piston within the piston bore between a vacuum stroke creating reduced pressure in the piston bore and a compression stroke creating increased pressure in the piston bore. A valve assembly within the flow passage controls the flow of liquid through the flow passage upon operation of the actuator. The valve assembly further comprises a check valve and a priming valve. The sprayer has a closure for mounting the sprayer to a container. The valve seat for the check valve is in a component formed separately from and operatively connected to the housing.
Abstract:
A manually operated trigger sprayer has an integral plastic spring and pump piston rod that are connected by a breakable connection, whereby the spring and piston rod can be assembled to the trigger sprayer as one piece and are subsequently broken into two separate pieces in response to their assembly to the trigger sprayer, or subsequent manual operation of the trigger sprayer.
Abstract:
A connector cap of a trigger sprayer is integrally formed with the sprayer housing of the trigger sprayer. The connector cap has a flexible cylindrical sidewall of varying thicknesses that enables the cap to be flexed and snap fit on a bayonet-type connector of a bottle neck by pressing the cap downwardly onto the bottle neck. The different thicknesses of the sidewall allow portions of the sidewall to flex, while maintaining a smooth, cylindrical exterior surface appearance of the sidewall.
Abstract:
A manually operated, vertically reciprocating liquid pump dispenser is removably connectable to a bottle containing liquid and simultaneously pumps liquid from the bottle and air from the exterior environment of the dispenser and mixes the liquid with the air to produce a foam that is dispensed from the dispenser. The dispenser includes a closure connector and a rotatable collar on the connector that provides a mechanism for venting the interior of the bottle to the exterior environment of the dispenser while avoiding leakage of the liquid from the bottle, and also incorporate a mechanism for locking the dispenser to prevent unintended pumping of liquid from the bottle.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a trigger sprayer which is connectable to two container volumes containing separate liquids. The sprayer has a trigger that is manipulated to draw the separate liquids into two separate pump chambers and then supply the two separate liquids from the pump chambers to a discharge passage of the sprayer. In the discharge passage the two separate liquids are mixed together prior to their being dispensed from the discharge passage as a spray.
Abstract:
A trigger sprayer construction is provided with a single valve member having both a sleeve valve and a disk valve on the single valve member that is assembled into a sprayer housing having a continuous discharge passage and supply passage to provide a trigger sprayer construction with a reduced number of separate component parts.
Abstract:
A manually operated reciprocating fluid pump is configured to be secured to a neck of a bottle. The neck of the bottle comprises a circumferential rim having an inner surface and an outer surface. The inner surface defines a mouth of the bottle. The fluid pump comprises a dispenser body, a closure cap, and a seal assembly. The dispenser body has a pump mechanism, a discharge port, and a discharge liquid flow path providing fluid communication between the pump mechanism and discharge port. The closure cap is connected to the dispenser body and is configured for closing the mouth of the bottle. The closure cap comprises a skirt configured for attachment to the neck of the bottle. The seal assembly comprises a circumferential outer rim seal and a circumferential inner rim seal spaced radially inward of the outer rim seal. The outer rim seal is shaped and sized to engage the outer surface of the rim of the bottle when the skirt is attached to the neck of the bottle. The inner rim seal is shaped and sized to engage the inner surface of the rim of the bottle when the skirt is attached to the neck of the bottle. The outer rim seal and inner rim seal constitute a single monolithic piece.
Abstract:
In a cap and container closure, the cap is integrally formed with a trigger sprayer housing and the cap and container have a bayonet-type closure that attaches the cap to the container by pressing the cap downwardly on the container without turning, or by no more than a quarter turn of the cap relative to the container, and the cap also has upper and lower lugs that engage against the top and bottom surfaces of ridges on the container neck to hold the cap securely on the container neck and prevent any rocking movement of the cap on the container.
Abstract:
A cap, spinner, and discharge nozzle assembly for use with a liquid dispensing apparatus such as a trigger sprayer. The spinner assembly can be externally fitted to the discharge nozzle, and includes an annular chamber surrounding a central post having a swirl chamber in its top. The central post includes longitudinal grooves, communicating with tangential grooves in an annular wall defining the swirl chamber. Apertures are provided in the base of the annular chamber such that pressurized liquid flows through the apertures and into the annular chamber, with a resulting reduction of velocity, and then along the longitudinal grooves and through the tangential grooves into the swirl chamber. A cap is provided which variably engages the discharge nozzle and which has at least a central projection on the inner side of its front face, and preferably an annular groove formed by an outer projection surrounding the central projection. The central projection may reversibly seal against the floor and/or annular wall of the swirl chamber, and the annular groove may seal over the annular wall.
