    摘要: A drum brake includes a wheel cylinder which cooperates with a pair of brake shoes to urge the latter to a braking position. In order to attach the wheel cylinder to a backing plate, a flange is disposed in abutment with the backplate and the wheel cylinder and a nut cooperates with the flange and the wheel cylinder to prevent separation between the wheel cylinder and the backing plate. Moreover, the nut and flange include openings for receiving a fitting communicating with the wheel cylinder. The nut extends through the flange opening to engage the wheel cylinder and the nut opening is dimensioned to receive the fitting in spaced relation thereto.

    摘要: A drum brake is disclosed in which a pair of arcuate brake shoes are slidably mounted on a fixed support and which are thrust into braking engagement with a rotating drum by a fluid motor actuator. Resilient hold-down springs are provided to attach the brake shoes to the drum and consist of an anchor portion which is engaged with the fixed support and a linking portion which interconnects the anchor portion and the brake shoe. A detent is provided on the web of the brake shoe in a position such that, when the brake shoe is installed on the fixed support with the detent projecting away from the fixed support, the linking portion of the hold-down spring will engage the detent and cannot be connected to the anchor portion. In this way, the shoes must be installed correctly with the projections facing towards the fixed support in order to connect the portions of the hold-down springs, thereby preventing incorrect assembly of the brake.

    摘要: A brake lining wear sensor produces an audible signal when it engages a rotating brake drum upon a predetermined amount of lining wear. The sensor is disposed within a groove between a friction lining and a brake shoe rim. Portions of the sensor project away from a body portion and engage the rotating brake drum to produce the warning signal. The projecting portions also cooperate with surfaces of the brake shoe rim or the friction lining to retain the sensor within the groove.
