    摘要: The performance of mobile air conditioning systems is improved with the use of a pressure sensing valve to control refrigerant flow in the system. The pressure sensing valve is connected between the condenser and the evaporator. The control valve senses the refrigerant pressure adjacent the evaporator, ie. the input, or output, or the combination of both, to control the refrigerant flow through the evaporator in a manner to improve the performance of the system. The reference pressure for the valve can be the atmosphere or a fixed or variable source. Various other operating variables can be sensed to control the variable source in a manner to interact with the sensed pressure to provide added control of system performance.

    摘要: A hold down spring for yieldably securing a drum brake shoe to a drum brake backing plate includes a nail that extends through apertures in the backing plate and in the brake shoe. A coil spring circumscribes the nail and urges a spring retainer slidable on the nail away from the brake shoe. The nail extends through an elongated slot in the retainer, which includes a wider portion which accepts an expanded end of the nail and a narrower portion which is narrower than the expanded end but wide enough to permit the nail to freely slide along the slot. The slot is inclined toward the brake shoe, so that the action of the spring tends to force the nail within the slot toward a seating area at one end of the slot. Errors in assembling the hold down spring is avoided, since if the nail is engaged with any part of the narrower portion of the spring will urge the nail toward the seating area, and if the nail remains in the wider portion of the slot, the spring will push the retainer off of the nail when the retainer is released, thereby making the mistake evident.

    摘要: A brake shoe (12) is guided on an anchor plate (10) of a drum brake and held down by a pin (32) which extends through a hole (34, 36) each in the anchor plate and in a web (18) of the brake shoe (12). The pin (32) has a foot (38) which is supported on the anchor plate (10) and a head (42) which has a bottom of rotationally symmetrical configuration with respect to the pin (32) and rises radially outwardly. Between the head (42) and the web (18) a spring (46) is arranged which has a receiving portion (50) formed with a recessed seat (52) for the head (42) and with a slot (60) which serves for radially slipping the receiving portion (50) on to the pin (32). The seat (52) is shaped like a funnel having a circular upper edge (54). The slot (60) is defined by a pair of outer edges (62) and a pair of adjoining inner edges (64). The outer edges (62) of the slot (60) converge in the direction of the upper edge (54) of the seat (52). This configuration of the hold-down device facilitates assembly of the brake shoe (12) and reduces the risk of faulty assembly.

    摘要: A drum brake is disclosed in which a pair of arcuate brake shoes are slidably mounted on a fixed support and which are thrust into braking engagement with a rotating drum by a fluid motor actuator. Resilient hold-down springs are provided to attach the brake shoes to the drum and consist of an anchor portion which is engaged with the fixed support and a linking portion which interconnects the anchor portion and the brake shoe. A detent is provided on the web of the brake shoe in a position such that, when the brake shoe is installed on the fixed support with the detent projecting away from the fixed support, the linking portion of the hold-down spring will engage the detent and cannot be connected to the anchor portion. In this way, the shoes must be installed correctly with the projections facing towards the fixed support in order to connect the portions of the hold-down springs, thereby preventing incorrect assembly of the brake.
