    摘要: The present invention provides an apparatus for use in a peristaltic pump 20 which prevents an inadvertent free flow condition prior to loading or after removal of an I.V. tube 26 in the peristaltic pump 20 and which also prevents the inadvertent occlusion of a loaded I.V. tube 26 in the peristaltic pump 20. A standard I.V. tube 26 has a slide clamp 109 provided thereon. The apparatus includes an I.V. tube groove 29 into which the I.V. tube 26 is positioned, a slide clamp receiving area 62 into which the slide clamp 109 is inserted, and a biased sliding member 81 which the inserted slide clamp 109 engages such that the I.V. tube 26 cannot be loaded into the apparatus without the slide clamp 109 occluding the I.V. tube 26. The present invention also contemplates a slide clamp 109' compatible with the apparatus having a surface pad 125 for facilitating automated identification of the slide clamp 109' in cooperation with a non-obstructive sensor 85 in the safety apparatus. The present invention further contemplates a slide clamp 109' having an I.V. tube receiving aperture 110' with an inner diameter profile which minimizes friction between I.V. tube contacting surfaces 126 of the aperture 110' as an I.V. tube 26 is slid transverse to its length within the aperture 110' and which has a surface pad 125 for facilitating automated identification of the slide clamp.

    摘要: A flexible tubing occluding device is provided for releasably occluding flexible tubing. The tubing occluding device includes housing that is adapted to receive the tubing and defines a tubing occluding surface against which a transverse section of the tubing is transversely urged and compressed when in an occluded position. A wedge-shaped tongue member is provided for urging the transverse section of the tubing against the tubing occluding surface.The geometry of the tubing occluding surface and the wedge-shaped tongue member cooperate to distribute a relatively low amount of force at the center portion of the occluded tubing and a relatively large force at the distal ends of the occluded tubing, utilizing the mechanical advantage of the wedge-shaped tongue member. The tubing occluding surface is configured so that the bottom half of the occluding tubing generally conforms to its original shape and so that most of the strain energy stored within the occluded tubing is utilized to allow restoration of the top half of the occluded tubing to an open position when the tubing is released from the occluded position.

    摘要: A new and improved release holding mechanism for utilization in conjunction with a wrist strap or the like, the present embodiment configured for utilization in conjunction with a caliper-jaws type release. As configured, the present system contemplates unique pivotal connection between the release extension member and the wrist strap, wherein the user can frictionally pivotally position the release relative to the wrist strap within a wide angular range, and the release will remain in the chosen position until re-positioned. The preferred embodiment of the present system contemplates a release system having first and second ends, a release caliper forming the first end and an angled, threaded connection member forming the second end, a wrist strap having inner and outer sides, with a first connection aperture formed therein, a connector tab situated in pivotal connection to the outer side supporting a grommet having a second connection aperture formed therein situated such that the first and second connection apertures are aligned to allow for the passage of the threaded connection member therethrough. Lastly, a first nut is situated in communication with the threaded connection member, in communication with the inner side of the wrist strap, and a second nut is situated also in communication with the threaded connection member, in communication with the grommet, the first and second nuts having juxtaposed in frictional communication therebetween the wrist strap.
