The method of this embodiment provides selecting one of a plurality of host transmit queues on a host memory by selecting an entry from a queue descriptor list on a network device, the selected entry being associated with one or more packets on the host memory, retrieving at least one of the one or more packets from the host memory, and storing the at least one of the one or more packets in a device transmit queue of the network device.
