Abstract: A cleaner head including suction chamber having a suction opening; an agitator including a hollow body and supported the suction chamber by a support member, the support member having a first end that is fixed to a side wall of the suction chamber,and second end that free and over which the hollow body of the agitator can be slideably received; and a drive assembly forming part of the support member, and arranged to rotate the agitator about an axis. The fixed end of the support member is pivotal fixed to the side all of the suctionchamber such that the free end of the support member, together with the agitator supported thereon, can be pivoted to protrude out frome suction opening, to allow the agitator o be removed and replaced.

Abstract: A brushbar for a vacuum cleaner is described. The brushbar includes a cylindrical body, one or more pairs of bristle strips and one or more plush strips arranged helically about the body. Each pair of bristle strips includes a first strip of first bristles and a second strip of second bristles, the first bristles being stiffer and shorter than the second bristles. The plush strips are arranged on either side of each pair of bristle strips and include a plush of fibres.

Abstract: A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaner includes a suction cavity having an opening through which debris enters the cleaner head, and an air outlet, and an agitator mounted in the suction cavity in a cantilevered manner for rotation relative thereto. The agitator is conical in shape and has a first, free end and a second end which has a larger diameter than the first end. The air outlet is located adjacent the free end of the agitator.
