Abstract: Examples of a method and system for collaborative and private sessions are provided. In some aspects a collaborative shopping session including a first user and one or more other users is established. The establishing of the session including displaying a common interface for the collaborative shopping session at respective computer systems of the first user and each of the one or more other users. A side session is initiated for a second user, the side session having a different interface in which activity within the side session by the second user is not shared with the first user or the one or more other users of the collaborative shopping session. A determination, based on one or more merge criterion, of whether to merge the side session with the collaborative session is made; and the side session is merged with the collaborative session based on the determining.

Abstract: Examples of a method and system for collaborative and private sessions are provided. A request from a user of a collaborative shopping session is received. The user is associated with a private shopping session that allows access to an item at a special price, the special price being unavailable to non-participants of the private shopping session. Criterion is designated for the private session, the criterion indicating a completion of the private shopping session. User interactions received from a device of the user are processed. Satisfaction of the criterion is determined as a result of the processing. The private shopping session for the user is concluded based on the determination.

A cursor movement request may be received from at least two users of a plurality of users of a collaborative session during a time period. The cursor may move on a common interface according to the cursor movement request from a first user selected from the at least two users that has satisfied a movement criterion. A completion criterion and a private session parameter may be designated for a private session. A number of user interactions may be processed from a participant of the private session. The private shopping session may be terminated for the participant when the completion criterion is satisfied.

A common interface is displayed to the plurality of users, the common interface displaying a shared cursor. A first authority level is assigned to a first user of the plurality of users and a second authority level is assigned to a second user of the plurality of users. A first cursor movement request is received from the first user and a second cursor movement request is received from the second user. The first user is selected based on determining that the first authority level is higher than the second authority level. The shared cursor displayed in the common interface is moved according to the first cursor movement request from the first user.
