Abstract: A method of determining a focusing parameter of electromagnetic waves in an electromagnetic wave energy treatment system and an electromagnetic wave energy treatment system are provided. The method includes determining an initial focusing parameter based on a tomographic image of an object, predicting a temperature change of the object, when assuming that electromagnetic waves are irradiated to the object according to the initial focusing parameter, determining a final focusing parameter by optimizing a focusing parameter according to a prediction result of the temperature change, and irradiating electromagnetic waves to the object according to the final focusing parameter, wherein the prediction result of the temperature change may indicate whether an unnecessary focusing point has occurred in the object.
