Abstract:
A cylindrical collar is received upwardly telescoped over the downwardly projecting trailer coupling pin and a U-shaped keeper is slidably received through the collar movable between pin engaging and disengaging positions. In the keeper pin engaging position, leg portions thereof span opposite portions of the collar opening passing through opposite portions of the usual annular recess of the coupling pin thereby retaining the collar over the coupling pin preventing the coupling pin from engaging a trailer pulling tractor. A lock through a pivotal cam bar slides a locking bar transversely into engagement with the keeper when the keeper is in its pin engaging position thereby locking the keeper in such pin engaging position.
Abstract:
A keyed, pin tumbler type lock has one or a series of jamming pin members in the casing intermediate the path of rotation of the lock cylinder between locked and unlocked positions. Attempted rotation of the lock cylinder from locked toward unlocked position without use of the key permits the jamming pin members to move inwardly partially into the lock cylinder jamming it against further rotation to the unlocked position. The jamming pin members are axially split pins outwardly axially abutted by spring urged wedge members which force the split pins partially into the lock cylinder pin openings while radially separating the split pins to engage them axially outward with casing shoulders, thereby permanently positioning the jamming pins in lock cylinder jamming position.
Abstract:
A threaded fastener has diametrically opposite, generally axially extending and generally radially oriented shoulders formed on its head annular under surface, the shoulders facing the circumferential direction opposite the circumferential direction of progressive engagement of the fastener threaded shank. Also, the fastener head under surface has a flat and then tapers progressively from each shoulder in the shoulder facing circumferential direction from the recessed surface level over approximately one-quarter the head circumference to a flat raised surface level and then remains at this raised surface level to the other shoulder. The fastener receiving device has an annular receiving surface radially outwardly of a fastener opening and axially facing the fastener head under surface which is nearly the mirror image of the fastener head annular under surface so as to present opposing shoulders. Thus, when the fastener is installed, the receiving surface shoulders circumferentially face and are engageable by the fastener under surface shoulders for resisting rotation of the fastener in a direction opposite the circumferential direction of progressive engagement to provide anti-backout resistance.
Abstract:
A shackle has at least one lower end portion received downwardly in a body opening permanently engaged within the body by a split ring within the body expanding and then contracting into an annular groove of the shackle. The split ring is located within the body by a downwardly closed sleeve press fit upwardly into the body opening from a lower end thereof thereby preventing access to the split ring. An annular shoulder on the shackle locates the shackle within the body for such engagement. The shackle may be U-shaped for reception in two body openings or singular ended for one body opening.
Abstract:
A usual longitudinally extending latch unit has a longitudinally reciprocal bolt and stationary frame parts are spaced transversely of the latch unit at opposite sides thereof mounting a half round spindle extending from one frame part through the latch unit to the other frame part. The frame parts mount the spindle for limited rotational movement from a normal intermediate non-operating position in either rotational direction to opposite operating positions, the spindle being operably connected with the bolt positioning the bolt extended in spindle normal non-operating position and retracted in either of the spindle operating positions. An anti-violation plate is mounted stationary on one of the frame parts by slidable engagement with spaced lugs on said frame part and telescopes the spindle spaced between that frame part spindle rotational mounting and the latch unit. The spindle extends through a plate opening having spaced abutment surfaces on the plate bordering said opening positioned engageable by the spindle when the spindle is moved to either of its operating positions, but the plate otherwise remaining free of contact with the spindle. The anti-violation plate thereby retains the spindle and bolt against movement in excess of that intended.
