Abstract: A method comprising providing an article having a non-zero radius of curvature and a thermoplastic film, moving relatively to each other said thermoplastic film and said article to bring them into contact, applying heat to the thermoplastic film so that the heated thermoplastic film shrinks and takes the shape and curvature of the article, resulting in a thermoformed thermoplastic film, and optionally laminating said thermoformed thermoplastic film on a surface of an optical article by means of a layer of adhesive, said layer of adhesive being positioned between the optical article and the thermoplastic film.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for producing a mold obtained by providing a monolithic optical lens element having at least a finished optical surface, the monolithic optical lens element being made of an organic material. The method includes: coating the finished optical surface with an electrically conductive material; depositing on the coated finished optical surface a layer of metal to produce a metal element having a surface which is a replication of the finished optical surface; and separating the monolithic optical lens element and the metal element, the metal element forming a mold replicating the finished optical surface of the monolithic optical lens element.
