Abstract: The present invention relates to a can made essentially of plastic and containing a sterile beverage. The can includes a receptacle having a cylindrical body and an upper portion provided with an opening. The opening in the receptacle is hermetically sealed with a closure made of a metal and plastics composite. A cap comprising a cylindrical side wall and a piercing device is attached to the receptacle. Preferably, the cap comprises a re-closable lid. The receptacle-and-cap assembly have the appearance of a can.
