Abstract: This relates to an interferometer including a light generator, a fibre-optic coil, an optical coupler/splitter, a photodetector and an electronic signal-processing system. The light generator includes a laser source able to emit a source beam split into two secondary beams passing through the coil with a travel time τ defining a natural frequency f p = 1 2 τ . According to the invention, the laser source is a monofrequency laser source and the light generator includes modulation means designed to modulate the source beam at a modulation frequency equal to 2 f p 2 n + 1 where n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, and the photodetector and the electronic signal-processing system are configured to acquire and process a signal representative of the interference beam at a demodulation frequency equal to f p 2 n + 1 .

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for reducing the Kerr effect in an interferometry measuring device including a generator configured to emit an input periodic light signal, and a Sagnac interferometer in which two counterpropagating signals travel and combine so as to form a periodic output signal having at least two power values, the method including: determining a phase shift between the two counterpropagating signals a first time, and cancelling out the phase shift; and then determining a phase shift between the two counterpropagating signals a second time; and adjusting the ratio between the average powers of the counterpropagating signals so as to cancel out the value of the phase shift determined in the second determination. Also disclosed is an interferometry measuring device configured to implement such method.

Abstract: Disclosed is a generator for generating an anti-Kerr modulated light signal, including a primary light source having four longitudinal modes or fewer and configured to generate a light signal and a modulator configured to modulate the power of the light signal by way of a square-wave or rectangular-wave control signal the duty cycle of which is less than or equal to 50%, and which are adapted such that the modulated light signal is periodic and has: —at a first point of the signal, a first power value equal to the product of its average power and a gain between 1.6 and 2.4; —at a second point of the signal, a second, non-zero power value, that is different from the first power value. Also disclosed is a modulation method and to a measuring device.
