    摘要: A multi-channel phased array coil for use in a magnetic resonance (MR) system is disclosed herein. The phased array coil includes N coils configured in an array, each of the N coils having a geometric shape and overlapping with (N−1) coils to form an overlap area within the array. The geometric shape of each of the coils and the overlap area are configured to cause a mutual inductance between every pair of the coils to be less than 10 percent of the self-inductance of each of the N coils. At least four coils are provided in the phased array coil.

    摘要: An RF coil assembly for an NMR instrument includes a cylindrical shield disposed concentrically about a central axis and a set of linear conductors disposed concentrically about the central axis and radially inward from the shield. Assembly further includes an annular member positioned to span the gap between the shield and linear conductors. The annular member includes an insulating substrate, a conductive layer over the substrate, and a series of non-conducting gaps through the conductive layer. One or more lumped element capacitors are connected across one or more of the gaps to tune to resonance.

    摘要: For measurements with increased accuracy in a nuclear magnetic resonance apparatus, the detection device is equipped with one or more surface coils which act as measuring coils. To avoid mutual interference between a radio-frequency transmitting coil and the measuring coil, the measuring coil is provided with a decoupling circuit. The surface coil and the decoupling circuit form a part of a tuned circuit which is tuned to a significantly higher natural frequency during activation of the transmitting coil. On the other hand, the transmitting coil is shorted during detection with the surface coil by a low resistance shorting circuit, thereby avoiding interference with the radio-frequency transmission signals.

    摘要: A radio frequency (RF) coil for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system includes a first end ring section containing a plurality of openings and a second end ring section containing a plurality of openings. A plurality of rungs is disposed between the first end ring section and the second end ring section. Each rung has a first end connected to the first end ring section and a second end connected to the second end ring section. Each rung can also include a plurality of openings. The openings in the end rings and rungs reduces eddy currents and improves RF performance of the RF coil.

    摘要: An RF coil assembly is presented that incorporates balun networks to eliminate standing waves from cables used to apply a voltage to multiple drive ports of the coil. Each drive port is driven by an applied voltage that is shifted 90 degrees in the tangential direction. Further, all drive ports are located on one end-ring of the coil, e.g. the superior end-ring. The inequality of the efficiency of the drive ports is reduced such that a substantially circular polarization in the volume of the coil is maintained. The present invention reduces asymmetrical loading by a patient as a result of patient asymmetry and patient contact with the opposite end-ring of the coil that normally negatively affects circular polarization and conventional coil configurations.
