摘要： A method and system for accessing log messages in a distributed network is disclosed. In a first aspect, the method and system comprise selecting a plurality of application log messages from a manager within the network and displaying the plurality of log messages via a browser user interface in the first window. In a second aspect, the method and system further includes selecting a particular log message from the plurality of log messages and displaying help-text related to the selected particular log message via the browser user interface. In summary, a method and system for providing easy access to Help text regarding application log messages in a browser user interface displays application log messages on a Java applet panel within the browser. When the user double-clicks on a message, a new Web browser window is displayed which includes an HTML page with the message text, a detailed explanation of the message, and the recommend user response. While browsing the log messages the user might need further information about the message. Finding help for the message is accomplished by clicking on the message within the user interface. This causes another Web browser window to be displayed which contains additional information concerning the message.

摘要： The present invention concerns methods and apparatus for implementing an interactive graphical user interface having the ability to graphically depict the relationships between or among multiple portlets. In one aspect, the present invention relates a child sub-portlet to a parent portlet with at least one graphical indicator when the child sub-portlet is surfaced from the parent portlet. Other aspects of the present invention concern in-line tools integrated in the graphical indicators for managing portlet operations. The graphical indicators and inline controls of the present invention allow a user to accurately and precisely control portlets.

摘要： The present invention provides a method and system for providing help navigation information for a computer network. The method includes identifying a plurality of registered applications; collecting a plurality of tags from the plurality of registered applications; and organizing the collected plurality of tags to provide a homogeneous, task-oriented help navigation system for the plurality of registered applications. The method provides homogeneous, dynamic help information which reflects the applications installed on a computer system. As applications are installed or removed based on customer needs and licensing changes, the content of the help system changes accordingly. This change occurs transparently to a user. The help information in the help system is organized in a task-oriented manner and displayed in a homogeneous view. Thus, a user is given help information concerning all installed applications involved in the performance of a task without the user needing to know ahead of time what applications have been installed or removed and how these applications relate to the task. This allows the user to obtain the desired help information for a task in an efficient manner.
