Abstract:
A method and apparatus for converting DC power to AC power. For example, apparatus for converting DC power to AC power comprises an input adapted to be coupled to a high-powered distributed generator having a maximum voltage at a first voltage and an arc fault mitigation device, coupled to the input, for providing a second voltage at the input that is lower than the first voltage, where a difference between the first voltage and the second voltage is not large enough to cause an arc.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for using distributed energy resources (DERs) to detect a fire event. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving, at a controller comprising at least one processor, temperature data from at least one power conditioner of a DER; analyzing, by the controller, the temperature data with respect to at least one temperature reference; determining, by the controller and based on analyzing the temperature data with respect to the at least one temperature reference, whether a fire event exists; and when it is determined that a fire event exists, performing, by the controller, at least one action for addressing the fire event.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for power imbalance correction comprising: a plurality of converters for converting a plurality of DC inputs to a multi-phase AC output, and coupling the multi-phase AC output to a multi-phase AC line, and a controller coupled to the plurality of converters. The controller determining whether phases of the multi-phase AC output are balanced, and controlling when all phases of the multi-phase AC output are not balanced, at least one converter of the plurality of converters to balance the multi-phase AC output.
Abstract:
A grounded distributed generator system comprises a plurality of photovoltaic (PV) modules, a plurality of power converters wherein each power converter is electrically coupled to a corresponding one of the PV modules, a cable for electrically coupling at least some of the plurality of power converters to a power line, wherein the cable comprises a ground wire for coupling to ground; and a grounding assembly for electrically coupling the ground wire to at least one exposed metal surface of the distributed generator system.
