Abstract: An optical receptacle is disposed between a light-emitting element and an optical transmission member and configured to optically couple the light-emitting element and the optical transmission member, the optical receptacle including an incidence surface configured to allow incidence of light emitted from the light-emitting element; and an emission surface configured to emit, toward the optical transmission member, light entered from the incidence surface and travelled inside the optical receptacle, the emission surface being an inner surface of a recess. The emission surface includes a first emission surface having a substantially spherical cap shape, and a second emission surface contiguous with the first emission surface, the second emission surface having a shape of a side surface of a substantially frustum shape.

Abstract: An optical receptacle capable of demultiplexing an optical signals to be transmitted and received without needing to place an optical functional member on an inclined surface and without needing to use an index-matching material is provided. The optical receptacle comprises: an optical splitter that allows transmitted light entering the optical receptacle from a light-emitting element to proceed to the emission surface toward an optical transmitter, and allows received light entering therein from the optical transmitter to proceed to the emission surface toward a light receiving element; and a light attenuation member for attenuating the received light reaching the light-emitting element from the optical splitter. The optical splitter is formed as an optical surface that includes a fourth optical surface and a fifth optical surface inclined relative to the fourth optical surface. The fourth optical surface is arranged at an angle that allows part of the transmitted light that enters the optical receptacle and reaches the optical splitter to proceed to the second optical surface, and the fifth optical surface is arranged at an angle that allows part of the received light that enters the optical receptacle and reaches the optical splitter to proceed to the third optical surface.

Abstract: An optical receptacle according to the invention has: a first optical surface through which light; and a second optical surface through which light is emitted. When an intersection point of the optical axis of the first optical surface and the first optical surface is defined as an origin, the optical axis of the first optical surface is defined as a Z axis, the axis passing through the origin and perpendicular to the Z axis is defined as an X axis, and the axis perpendicular to the Z axis and the X axis is defined as a Y axis, the first optical surface is configured such that, when collimate light enters through the first optical surface from the inside of the optical receptacle, a second focal point is observed closer to the first optical point as compared with a first focal point.
