摘要: The present invention relates to radio communication in a cellular network and in particular to the sharing of a frequency spectrum with another network. The object is to enable robust communication in the shared band. The solution is to allocate a third band for communication in a cell. A L1/L2 control channel may be transmitted in the third band only, whereas data can be transmitted in the shared band. The L1/L2 control channel support the data communication in the shared band. The invention relates to a method and a radio base station.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide a solution wherein data packets can be transmitted in a mobile packet data communication system between a mobile station (500) and a base station system (510) over an air interface (520) with a short initial access time delay, without unnecessary consumption of system resources and the mobile station's battery resources. This is achieved by using a novel channel type called non-scheduled traffic channel for transmitting data packets between a mobile station and a base station system. The non-scheduled traffic channel is accessible to a selected number of the mobile stations residing in a cell. The non-scheduled traffic channel is used such that a data packet is transmitted from the mobile station (500) to the base station system (510) or from the base station system (510) to the mobile station (500) over the non-scheduled traffic channel without any connection being established between the mobile station and the base station system before the data packet is transmitted and without the non-scheduled traffic channel being scheduled for the transmission before the data packet is transmitted. An identifier would be appended to the data packet such that the mobile stations in the cell would know to which mobile station the packet is addressed, in case of downlink transmission, and such that the base station system would know from which mobile station the data packet was transmitted, in case of uplink transmission.

摘要: Methods, apparatus, and systems for measuring, on a per-QoS-class basis, the average number of user devices active on the uplink of a wireless communication system are disclosed. In an exemplary method, a number of mobile terminals with buffered data for transmission to a base station is estimated based on received buffer status reports. An estimated quantity of active mobile terminals is calculated, based on the received buffer status reports and a number of mobile terminals for which a semi-persistent scheduling grant has been granted. In some embodiments, the estimated quantity of active mobile terminals is estimated on a per-traffic-class basis, in which case the technique includes calculating first and second estimated quantities, corresponding to mobile terminals having active data bearers for first and second traffic classes, respectively, based on the received buffer status reports and the number of mobile terminals for which a semi-persistent scheduling grant has been granted.

摘要: The performance of a network, such as a mobile communications network, having multiple network nodes can be monitored. In a first network node, certain data flows passing through the node are tagged by adding a performance management identifier. In a second network node, statistics relating to data flows containing the performance management identifier are aggregated, and the aggregated statistics are reported to a management node of the communications network. This allows for the gathering of accurate statistics relating to specific types of data flow, such as data flows to specific types of user equipment or containing specific types of data, even though the second node, in which the statistics are generated, cannot itself distinguish between the different data flows.

摘要: The present invention relates to cellular communications and in particular to a frequency spectrum shared by two cellular networks. The object is flexible utilization of the spectrum. This is achieved by a method wherein a first of the networks occupies part of the shared spectrum in relation to the traffic load in the first network. The first network informs a second of the networks on the extent the shared spectrum is occupied, for the second network to be free to use the shared spectrum outside the occupied part. The invention also relates to a RRM unit arranged for carrying out the inventions, to a BSC and to a radio base station adapted for carrying out the method. One advantage is that spectrum can be lent from an old system when a new system is introduced.

摘要: Monitoring the performance of communication systems is an important part of network operations. In one aspect the invention provides a method for monitoring the performance by collecting data pertaining to a mobile terminal accessing the system. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving an identifier for identifying the mobile terminal; using the identifier to detect the UE accessing the network via an access point; and in response to detecting the UE accessing the network, transmitting to the access point a message comprising an encrypted version of the identifier with a command to initiate the collection of data pertaining to the mobile terminal.
