Abstract: A subjective refraction apparatus provides a variable optical correction along an optical axis. The subjective refraction apparatus includes a pair of lenses mounted on a mount in such a manner that the lenses are movable with respect to each other in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis for generating a variable spherical power along the optical axis. The mount is provided with a support defining a space for removably receiving an additional lens on the optical axis.
