Abstract: A sealing body and a cylindrical storage battery are provided. The sealing body includes: a first cover plate fixed to the battery; a second cover plate forming a housing space between itself and first cover plate; and an elastic valving element disposed inside housing space and compressed between the first and second cover plate. The first cover plate includes an annular, hollow disk-shaped base portion around an axis line, an annular first sidewall portion extending downward from an inner peripheral edge portion of the base portion, and a bottom wall portion connected to the first sidewall portion. The first sidewall portion has a first through-hole passing through the first sidewall portion in a direction approaching axis line. The second cover plate has a communicating hole communicating housing space and an external space. The valving element is disposed between the first through-hole and the communicating hole in direction of fluid flow.
