Abstract: A fluid filter unit having a rigid perforated core and a filter covering extending over a substantial area thereof, the core having a projecting end portion adapted to fit into a supporting means, or ferrule mounted in a header in a filter housing or casing, in which the header is provided with one or more openings therethrough, the projecting end portion of the core being made adaptable to the diameter of the supporting means associated with the said header openings, which vary in diameter by rendering the projecting end portion of the core compressible by corrugating, slotting, or otherwise equivalently fashioning the same to accomplish this result.

Abstract: 1,201,187. Fluid filter element. FILTERITE CORP. 20 Sept., 1967, No. 42765/67. Heading B1D. A fluid filter element of the wound strand type comprises two or more axially abutting sections which are wound simultaneously and in phase (Fig. 1, not shown), so that the fibres extending from the strands 14 intermesh between turns of strand and between the two strands where sections abut. The fibres are engaged by a radially retreating brush to spread them during winding. Natural or artificial strands are used, and the sections are wound on a rigid perforate core, which may be in one or more pieces, axially abutting out of line with the sections themselves.
