Abstract: Provided are a polarizer having a high degree of alignment and an image display device including the polarizer. The polarizer of the present invention is a polarizer which is formed of a polarizer-forming composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic material, in which the liquid crystal compound and the dichroic material are horizontally aligned, and in an X-ray diffraction spectrum of the polarizer, at least one of a plurality of peaks observed in a diffraction angle range of 17° or less is a peak A in which an interval of a periodic structure corresponding to the at least one peak does not have an integer multiple relationship with an interval of a periodic structure corresponding to at least one of other peaks.

Abstract: The magnetic recording medium has a non-magnetic support and a magnetic layer which is provided on the support and contains ferromagnetic powder and a binder, in which the ferromagnetic powder is ferromagnetic hexagonal ferrite powder, the magnetic layer contains an abrasive, an intensity ratio (Int (110)/Int (114)) of a peak intensity Int (110) of a diffraction peak of (110) plane of a crystal structure of the hexagonal ferrite, determined by performing X-ray diffraction analysis on the magnetic layer by using an In-Plane method, to a peak intensity Int (114) of a diffraction peak of (114) plane of the crystal structure is equal to or higher than 0.5 and equal to or lower than 4.0, and a squareness ratio in a vertical direction is equal to or higher than 0.65 and equal to or lower than 1.00. The present invention also provides a method for manufacturing the magnetic recording medium.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide an anisotropic light absorption film having both a high alignment degree and high light resistance, and a laminate provided using the anisotropic light absorption film. An anisotropic light absorption film according to the embodiment of the invention is formed from a composition having a first dichroic azo dye, a second dichroic azo dye, and a compound represented by Formula (I) or a polymer thereof, the first dichroic azo dye has a solution absorption maximum wavelength of 400 nm or greater and less than 550 nm, the second dichroic azo dye has a solution absorption maximum wavelength of 550 nm or greater and 750 nm or less, and the film has an arrangement structure of the first dichroic azo dye or an arrangement structure of the second dichroic azo dye therein.
