    摘要: A web browser plug-in supports a team approach to Internet research. An initial search, preferably by a web robot, generates an initial plurality of potentially relevant URLs, which are stored in a shared URL database. Team members are notified when new URLs are added to the database. Team members, optionally through an access control system, evaluate and rank the URLs for relevance. URLs are managed based on their rank, such as ordering their display and deleting non-relevant URLs. The rank of a URL may be indicated visually in a web browser, such as by displaying graphic icons adjacent its title. The method may be iterative, with additional searches conducted, preferably via additional web robots, with the additional URLs returned being evaluated, ranked, and managed in the URL database.

    摘要: A method, system, and computer instructions for managing interruptions across applications in a data processing system. A user's focus is monitored within the data processing system. Responsive to a request to present a window in the foreground, the priority level of an application currently containing the user focus is compared with a priority level of an application presenting the window. If the application presenting the window has a higher or equal priority than the application currently containing the user focus, the window is presented in the foreground. If the application presenting the window has a lower priority than the application currently containing the user's focus, the request to present the window in the foreground is ignored. Information regarding the request is then stored in a log for later viewing.

When the user selects the “paste to” function, a list of potential target applications is provided. Potential target applications includes other open applications as well as different windows (e.g., documents) of a common application, such as a word processor. When the user selects one of the potential targets from the list, data is written to the “entry point” of the target application. If the user wishes to paste the same data to several different target applications, the user selects the “paste to” function as many times as needed in order to paste the data to the various other applications.

    摘要: A user input mechanism is provided that allows a user to enter words as gestures on a virtual keyboard presented on the display device. The user input mechanism combines two existing and prevalent forms of user input: cursive handwriting and keyboard input. A familiar keyboard layout is presented on the display. A user then may place an implement, such as a stylus or the user's finger, in contact with the display. Typically, the implement will first touch the screen at a position of a first character in a word. The user then may move the implement along the surface of the display from character to character, spelling out a word.

    摘要: The present invention is a method and system that determines the connection availability of a mobile or cellular device to the communication network in the current location of the mobile or cellular device. The system of the present invention comprises a communication tower containing a means to monitor the current connection capacity of the tower. This monitoring process would involve establishing the maximum call connection capability of the tower. This process also maintains a current count of the number of calling devices that are connected through the tower. As the number of connections increases toward the maximum number of connections, the tower will begin to broadcast messages to mobile and cellular telephone devices in the area of the tower the current connection capability to that tower. The mobile or cellular devices would receive the message and display the information to the device user. With this information, the user could decide whether to continue to attempt to call via the tower or to wait to a later time or until the caller is in another area than the current calling tower.

    摘要: A parking management system is provided for optimizing parking situations based on preferences of individual drivers. A surveyor collects parking information, which identifies whether or not parking spaces are occupied by a vehicle. Parking information may be collected by sensors located near or within the parking spaces themselves. The parking information is stored in a parking data structure, such as a database, which also stores properties for the spaces. A profile data structure, such as a database, contains profiles for users of the parking structure. The parking management system identifies a user and retrieves the profile of the user from the profile data structure. The parking management system then searches the parking data structure for available spots and selects a spot or set of spots that most closely match the user's preferences. The parking management system then presents the spot of set of spots to the driver.
