Abstract:
A machine for making sub-units of smoking articles comprises a conveyor, a feed unit, cutting means and at least one rotary applicator. The conveyor is configured to feed a succession of tubular segments of the tobacco industry. The feed unit is configured to feed and convey at least one continuous web. The cutting means are configured to separate a succession of closing elements from a front end of the continuous web. The rotary applicator is operatively associated with the conveyor and is configured to pick up the succession of closing elements and to apply them, preferably by gluing, to an application end of a respective tubular segment, in such a way as to form closing walls to at least partly close the application ends.
Abstract:
A sub-unit of a smoking article includes a tubular wrapper which extends along a main axis of extension and internally defines a containment chamber containing a filling material of the tobacco industry. The tubular wrapper has an access opening on at least one of its ends for access to the containment chamber. The sub-unit also includes at least one closing element applied to the at least one end of the tubular wrapper to define a closing wall for closing the access opening. The closing element extends transversely to the main axis of extension in such a way as to at least partly close the access opening.
Abstract:
A compacting unit for the tobacco industry includes a conveyor drum configured to convey groups of segments disposed perpendicularly to the feed direction. A first compactor and a second compactor have a first contact portion and a second contact portion, respectively. The first contact portion and the second contact portion are respectively adapted to be placed in contact with a first axial end and a second axial end of a group of segments in transit in the compacting station. The first contact portion is compliant, preferably elastically compliant, along a longitudinal direction of extension of the groups of segments upon interaction with the first axial end. The second contact portion defines a rigid abutment along the longitudinal direction of extension of the groups of segments suitable for setting a predetermined position for the second axial end.
Abstract:
A machine for making a continuous tubular element with filling from web material, including first and second means for feeding respective continuous webs, a forming station configured to perform a folding and/or deformation of a first continuous web in a shaped configuration, and a wrapping station wherein the second continuous web is wound in a tubular shape around the first continuous shaped web to obtain the continuous tubular element. Between the forming station and the wrapping station there is at least one guide bar about which the first continuous web is at least partly formed and/or guided.
Abstract:
An inspection device for the quality control of rod-shaped smoking articles includes a drum and an inspection assembly. Each transfer drum has a succession of peripheral retaining portions, each having a retaining groove aligned with the axis of rotation of the transfer drum and configured to receive a respective smoking article to be inspected. Each inspection assembly, which is rotatable about the axis of rotation of the transfer drum, is equipped with a succession of detectors. Each detector has a cavity configured to insertably receive an end portion of the respective smoking article to be inspected and is equipped with a sensor adapted to detect an internal structure within the smoking article. The inspection device also comprises a movement device configured to move each peripheral retaining portion and the corresponding detector reciprocatingly towards and away from each other during the rotation of the transfer drum.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filling trays with rod-shaped smokers articles comprises a station for filling the trays, a conveying apparatus for directing the smokers' articles in bulk to the filling station, a first conveyor assembly for directing the empty trays in succession to the filling station, and a second conveyor assembly for removing the full trays in succession from the filling station; the conveying apparatus has an outlet in communication with the filling station, and the apparatus comprises a delivery device for delivering the smokers' articles, in communication with the outlet and insertable into each tray to be filled, and a movement device for reciprocally moving the delivery device and each tray while the tray is being filled.
Upstream of the wrapping station there is a first gluing device configured to apply at least one longitudinal line of glue on at least one of the continuous webs in such a way as to define at least one gluing zone, said longitudinal line of glue being positioned in such a way as to coincide with a zone of superposing and contact between the two continuous webs feeding out of the wrapping station.

Abstract:
A machine for making sub-units of smoking articles includes a conveyor, a feed unit and an applicator. The conveyor conveys a succession of tubular segments transversely along a conveying direction. The feed unit feeds and conveys a continuous web and advances the web along a feed direction parallel to the conveying direction of the tubular segments so that the web faces respective application ends of the tubular segments. The applicator is movable along an application direction parallel to an axis of predominant extension of the succession of tubular segments and is configured to engage the web so as to separate respective closing elements from it. The applicator is also configured to apply the closing element internally or externally on an application end of a respective tubular segment in such a way as to form a closing wall to at least partly close the application end.
Abstract:
A filling unit, configured to fill a succession of tubular wrappers of the tobacco industry. The tubular wrappers extend along a main axis of extension and internally define respective containment chambers adapted to contain a filling material of the tobacco industry and have an access opening on at least one of its ends for access to the containment chamber. The unit also includes a filling station configured to insert the filling material into respective containment chambers of the succession of tubular wrappers through a filling end of them and a closing station disposed downstream of the filling station and comprising a plurality of closing means configured to make respective walls which close the filling ends and which are transverse to the respective main axes of extension.
