Abstract: A composite metal article is formed by brazing a layer of ferrous metal machining chips to the surface of a ferrous metal body and then die casting an aluminum body against the brazed surface whereby the aluminum envelopes the chips and enters the interstices therebetween and whereby on solidification the aluminum body is mechanically locked to the ferrous metal body.
