Abstract: A light-emitting assembly configured to generate varied color light includes an assembly housing. The light-emitting assembly also includes a light filter element fixed relative to the assembly housing. The light filter element includes a plurality of transparent nanostructured ElectroChromic (TNEC) layers. When at least one of the plurality of TNEC layers is subjected to voltage, the subject TNEC layer(s) imparts a distinct reflective color to ambient light entering the light-emitting assembly. Such a light-emitting assembly may be specifically adapted for use on a motor vehicle.

The light-emitting assembly additionally includes a light element fixed to the outer lens in the window. The light element is exposed on the lens exterior surface, and configured to direct a beam of light away from the outer lens exterior surface. Such a light-emitting assembly may be specifically adapted for use on a motor vehicle.

Abstract: A headlight unit includes a housing, a micro-LED device mounted in the housing, a relay lens system mounted in the housing forward of the micro-LED device, and a projection lens system mounted in the housing forward of the relay lens system. The micro-LED device has a plurality of forward-facing micro-LEDs, wherein first, second and third subsets of the micro-LEDs are arranged in respective first, second and third 2D arrays. The relay lens system includes first, second and third relay lenses configured to receive and relay respective first, second and third streams of light emitted by the first, second and third subsets of micro-LEDs. The projection lens system includes first, second and third projection lenses configured to receive and project the first, second and third streams of light in respective first, second and third projection patterns.

Abstract: An automotive vehicle includes a body, a housing disposed on the body, and an exterior lens coupled to the housing defining a cavity therebetween. The vehicle additionally includes an interior lens disposed in the cavity. The exterior and interior lenses have distinct first and second colors, respectively. The vehicle also includes a reflector disposed in the cavity. The reflector has an at least partially reflective coating disposed thereon and is positioned to reflect light from the interior lens and to the exterior lens. The vehicle further includes first and second light sources configured to emit light having a third color. The first light source is oriented to direct light through the exterior lens without passing through the interior lens, and the second light source is oriented to direct light through the interior lens, reflect from the reflector, and subsequently through the exterior lens.
